Inspired by the Cold War classic Missile Command, Shmageddon puts the fate of civilization in your hands. Aim your crosshair with the mouse and launch counter-missiles to intercept the incoming warheads before they obliterate your cities. Unlike the original's trackball, the mouse-aimed crosshair gives you precision targeting that feels natural in a browser. Every explosion creates a blast radius that can catch other missiles in mid-flight, and chaining those explosions into massive combos is the key to posting monster scores.
What sets Shmageddon apart is the multiple defense modes that go far beyond the original. You are not just launching counter-missiles -- you have access to different interception strategies that unlock as you progress. Early waves are manageable, but soon the sky fills with fast-moving warheads, MIRVs, and cruise missiles, and you have to decide which defense mode to use for each threat. Managing your resources and timing chain explosion combos to wipe out entire salvos is deeply satisfying.
Shmageddon is part of SHMARCADE, a collection of free retro browser games. Every run is recorded so you can watch replays of any top score on the global leaderboard, challenge friends head-to-head with shareable links, and climb the rankings. It works on desktop and mobile with touch controls -- no download, no install, just pure arcade action.
